Kevin Spencer and the Townsend Center recently brought their arts outreach program to special needs classrooms at Carrollton City Middle School and Carrollton City High School, offering students an engaging and inclusive creative experience.

The outreach program uses interactive performance and hands-on activities to encourage communication, creativity, and confidence among students with diverse learning needs. Spencer and his team worked directly with students, adapting activities to ensure everyone could participate and feel included.

Teachers at both schools noted strong student engagement and positive responses throughout the visits. Many said the program provided a meaningful opportunity for students to express themselves in new ways while reinforcing social and emotional skills.

“Our goal is to make the arts accessible to every student,” Spencer said. “When we bring creativity into the classroom, we create moments of connection that can have a lasting impact.”

The Townsend Center plans to continue its outreach efforts in Carrollton and surrounding communities as part of its ongoing mission to support arts education and inclusion in schools.
