The Townsend Center strives to bring programming to the stage that not only entertains, but also teaches, inspires, and fosters growth within the audience and the community. During the 2025-2026 season, we had six different options for K-12 students to experience live entertainment. In October, the UWG Theatre Company produced the classic gothic story Frankenstein.  Following Frankenstein, the UWG Theatre Company produced Tiny Tim’s Christmas Carol. In January 2026, we had Dr. Kevin Spencer do a residency to educate the teachers and health care professionals of today and tomorrow, and also visits local schools for interactive sessions for special education classrooms. Following Dr. Spencer, we had three local schools performing musicals: Central High School's Mamma Mia, Temple High School's Little Mermaid JR., and Bowdon Elementary and Middle Schools performing Mary Poppins JR. Our Art and Education programming wrapped up with EINSTEIN! A Genius in Tumultuous Times, about the life and times of Albert Einstein as his discoveries revolutionized the world.

A man dressed as a young Albert Einstein in a vintage brown tweed suit sits leaning forward on a stool in a dimly lit room, holding his tie as if mid-thought. He has messy hair and a mustache, giving a slightly disheveled, intellectual appearance. Behind him are chalkboards filled with handwritten equations and notes, along with a small table holding an old-fashioned telephone and books, suggesting a scientific or academic setting.
