Born in Havana in 1953, Ignacio Berroa quickly became Cuba’s most sought after drummer.
By 1981, Ignacio had joined the quartet of the late Bebop legend Dizzy Gillespie.
Their decade long relationship culminated with the Grammy Award winning "United Nations Orchestra."
Gillespie praised Ignacio as "the only Latin drummer in the history
of American music that intimately knows both worlds, his native Afro-Cuban music as well as Jazz."
Ignacio has performed with countless jazz superstars from Chick Corea and Slide Hampton to Jon Faddis and Tito Puente.
